This range of forms was created using both the matrix build and the random fill elements of the Automake software. Many of the forms have been generated using a torus (ring) as the underlying constraining mesh. A number of, bangles, bracelets and rings have been physically created which vary in scale, complexity and method of production.

  • Generated forms can be rescaled to fit personal requirements in the post processing stage (e.g. the size of someone’s wrist).
  • This bangle is produced by a RP process that builds the parts from a polymer which is supported by wax. In this illustration the wax is being melted away to produce the finished design.
  • Finished RP part (approx. 120x120x20mm). This process produces objects with a higher level of strength and flexibility than the Z-corp process.

  • Additions to the generated designs can be made at the post processing stage make them more functional.

  • Completed bangle design made up of a different selection of units of a slightly larger scale than previous designs.
  • Other methods of physical production are also being investigated, including the creation of rapid prototyped waxes, with sprues in place, in order to cast pieces in solid silver or gold. Therefore digital production technologies are not only used to create the final works, but also integrated into more traditional craft production techniques.
