This range of forms was generated with the matrix build element of the software and do not fit with any other of the function specific galleries. These were some of the first forms generated and were created to help assess the functionality and flexibility of the software.

  • Automake generative software interface.
  • Build in progress, with no constraining mesh.
  • In post processing the generated designs are reconstructed and checked for any structural defects then outputted in a format appropriate for digital manufacture.
  • A range of rapid prototyping technologies can be used to produce physical versions of the generated digital forms. In this example Z corp technology is being used constructing objects using a 3D printing system that creates forms from plaster. This is a quick and relatively cheap method of creating physical models, but has little inherent strength and is used predominantly for visualisation.
  • Completed test piece (approx 120x60x50mm).
  • Metalised and silver plated Zcorp RP model.
  • CAD model of two interconnected generated matrixes that have been trimmed using an elliptical form.
  • Physical version of previous image. Created using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) rapid prototyping technology and produced in ABS plastic and coloured using fabric dye. 100x100x50mm approx.
  • Collection of rapid prototyped elliptical forms. Large; Z corp, medium; FDM, small; Selective Laser Sintered (SLS).
